To complement our intensive courses of Japanese script, where the students focus more on mastering the practical aspects of the japanese writing system, we are trying to present the students an oportunity to experience the more "physical" aspect of the so called art of the brush.
We were able to organize two calligraphy workshops under the supervision of experienced Japanese instructors and at other occasions we prepared workshops by ourselves to no visible disappointment of our students.
Students who learn to understand how to handle a brush are then able to understand the intricacies of writing japanese characters and are one step closer to be able to read calligraphic script. And it is also fun, by the way. Which is why we plan to continue to organize workshops like this in the future.
