The grammatical nominal phenomena are often described in the morphological terms, as declensional cases. Such a point of view may be considered typical and obvious for a user of a Slavic language (including Czech, Polish or Russian) or for a learner of Latin as well as for the users of Turkish, Hungarian or Finnish, among others. This view, however, is not popular when it comes to the description of Japanese, revealing overt case marking and a regular set of case markers. Some consequences of these facts are going to be presented in the lecture.
