It is our pleasure to announce that Alex Kerr, an accomplished scholar of Japanese studies and author of books such as Lost Japan or Dogs and Demons, will join us as a guest speaker on Friday, October 8th at 8:15 a.m. in the online course Contemporary Japan: Selected Topics in History, Politics and Culture. There he will be discussing mainly his book Dogs and Demons: The Fall of Modern Japan, where he examines Japan's approach to environmental issues, governance, education, etc. We will also discuss his TED talks dealing with issues such as kaso (depopulation) or recent trends in Japan tourism.

The plan is mainly to have a discussion with students, but we are also happy to welcome guests from the public. If you are interested in attending, please email our secretary Jana Peroutová (peroutova@phil.muni.cz) and if there is still space available, you will be given access details.
