A report from Iaponica Brunensia 2023
On 15-16 September, the Japanese studies conference Iaponica Brunensia took place at FF MU.
A visit from the Japanese Ambassador
On the 22nd of March, we were honored to welcome the Japanese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, His Excellency Kaoru Shimazaki.
We discussed the state of Japanese studies in the Czech Republic and at our department with the Ambassador and his company, and then we accompanied them to a meeting at our dean's office, where, in front of the portrait of T.G. Masaryk, His Excellency was kind enough to share with us the story of our first president's brief visit to Japan.
At the end of our meeting, we showed Ambassador Shimazaki our humble office.
The Ambassador also paid a short visit to our sophomores' lesson of Japanese script, where he answered some questions of our students and appreciated their dilligence.
We sincerely hope, that this visit was an encouragement to our students as much as it was for us, the members of the Department of Japanese Studies, and we are looking forwards to further cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic.
