Department of Japanese studies at Researchers' Night
On 26th September Department of Japanese Studies took part in this year's Researchers' Night's activities.
Workshop japonských tisků ukijo-e pod vedením
On 19th November Department of Japanese Studies organised for its students a workshop of Japanese woodblock prints ukiyo-e. Workshop was headed by the artist Natsuka Kamei, who in her work combines traditional techniques with modern technologies. Students had the opportunity to try printing out simplified versions of two Hokusai pieces from the series 36 Views of Mount Fuji. After that they tried printing of various patterns used on kimonos.
Appart from being enjoyable, the workshop allowed the students to understand the techniques and crafting skills required in production of ukiyo-e.
